Complete guide to Amarnath Yatra.
By Bhakti Yatra Travels
Amarnath Yatra is a very holy pilgrimage in India that is devoted to Lord Shiva and one that makes devotees undergo a spiritually enlightening journey amongst the stunning Himalayan ranges within Jammu and Kashmir. Thousands of pilgrims come to participate in this yatra annually to get blessings of the Amarnath Cave in which the naturally formed ice Shiva Lingam is worshipped as a Godly sign of faith and devotion.
Amarnath Yatra has a lot of significance.
The Hindu mythology describes how the Amarnath Cave was the location where Lord Shiva imparted the secret of immortality to the Goddess Parvati. The ice Lingam is sacred and waxes and wanes with the moon, and is thought to be a divine expression of Lord Shiva himself. It is said that attending this sacred shrine sanifies a soul and provides spiritual illumination to a person.
Best Time to Visit
Amarnath Yatra is normally done between June and August according to the weather conditions. Each year the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) does announce the official dates. It is only a short season when the cave can be visited because it is not accessible during the severe snowfalls.
Yatra Routes
The holy cave has two major approaches:
A traditional route connecting Pakistan with India has recently been founded, the Pahalgam Route, which has fixed the route between the two nations. Pahalgam Route (Traditional Route):
Distance: Around 46 km
Itinerary: Pahalgam- Chandanwari- Sheshnag- Panchtarni- Amarnath Cave.
This is a longer but a more scenic route that is located through the green valleys and rivers.
Baltal Route (Short Route):
Distance: Around 14 km
Itinerary: Baltal- Domel-Barari Marg-Sangam -Amarnath Cave.
Perfect if one wants a shorter and hikier experience.
The two paths provide pony services, palanquins, and even helicopters to the devotees who are comfortable and convenient.

Every pilgrim is required to enroll himself or herself with the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board(SASB) prior to the journey.
